Challenging picture for local business
The news on Friday that aerospace company Bombardier is to review operations in Northern Ireland amid global job cuts as a result of the Coronavirus downturn ended a mixed week for the local economy, as businesses contemplate how to navigate emerging from restrictions while dealing with the impending effects of Brexit.
Further easing of restrictions
As the NI Executive announced a further easing for some activities next week, the latest numbers showed one new Covid-19-related death, bringing the total reported by the Health Department to 536. The Executive also said it was considering mandatory face coverings on public transport.
Meanwhile, the last Covid-19 patients for now have been discharged from the Altnagelvin Hospital in Derry, but there are warnings of second wave for Northern Ireland later in the year.
